Today in Atlanta, GA, JFCS President and CEO Dr. Jordan Golin is accepting an award for Extraordinary Leadership from the Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies (NJHSA)! Jordan has been honored by NJHSA in recognition of his leadership during the Pittsburgh Jewish community’s darkest day on October 27, and the days that followed.
JFCS, along with the Jewish Community Center of Pittsburgh and the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, worked together from just an hour or two after the event to provide resources for victims, their families and the community at large.
In the ensuing months, JFCS has offered continuous individual and community counseling for anyone affected by the tragedy, published a book of letters of comfort and solidarity from all over the world, and facilitated training in trauma response to community religious and lay leaders. Jordan has also presided over JFCS’s upgrade of agency security and a rededication of the agency to continue helping refugees and immigrants.
In March, Jordan accepted the donation to JFCS of the painting “The Tree of Life is Weeping” by Rabbi Me’irah Iliinsky, when copies were also presented to the victims’ families, the Pittsburgh Police Department, and each of the three congregations that worshipped at the Tree of Life Synagogue.
Jordan serves on the NJHSA Board and was the NJHSA Executive Conference Committee Chair. With an emphasis on collaboration with local members of the Jewish community, the broader community, his team and his Board, Jordan Golin has been at the center of helping his community put one foot in front of the other. This was an extraordinary event and Jordan Golin’s leadership had to be and was extraordinary.
Congratulations Jordan!
