January Volunteers at the Food Pantry

community groups volunteer at the food pantry in January

We’re so grateful for all of our January volunteers at the food pantry! Thanks to all who came to help. Check out the highlights and photos below!

Allegheny County Bar Association

For January’s pack-out we hosted the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA)! They packed up over 1,000 pounds of produce and also stocked the shelves. They were one of the most organized groups we’ve ever had and really helped us get started with our very busy week of shopping and renewals. Thanks, ACBA, for everything you do and for coming each January with a full crew!

Gay for Good

We also hosted another awesome group in January–Gay for Good! Per their website, “Gay For Good aims to energize and mobilize the LGBTQ community to interact with the greater community by volunteering time to various social welfare and environmental service projects. Each month, Gay For Good Pittsburgh selects a different non-profit to donate our time for a community service project.”

Last month they chose the Pantry! They packed up green beans, oranges, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, and bagged 150 pounds of grains and legumes for us. Thank you so much to everyone who showed up on a very cold January morning!

The Children’s School at CMU

The Children’s School at CMU stopped by to help pack up snack packs for the Pantry. They brought SO many great goodies for the Pantry families and filled up our 8 pound bags! It was our best event yet with The Children’s School. Thank you to everyone who came out to donate and help!

PittServes

Lailah and Eric stopped by from the Service Leadership Committee through PittServes! They helped bag up green peppers and apples and we hope to see both of them again. We always get great volunteers from the University of Pittsburgh!

The Friendship Circle

The Friendship Circle stopped by in January to help us bag onions and potatoes! We always love hosting them and will see them again in the spring. And a big thanks to Paige (Friends on the Town Coordinator) for always making room in the schedule to come help at the Pantry. We look forward to seeing you all again!
