Party with a Purpose: Celebrating Refugees and Immigrants!
March 20, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
6 months ago, Noah Jordan and four other JFCS board members got together to start a Young Adults Committee to get young adults (30-40 year olds) involved with all the great causes we are involved in at JFCS. The first event was Last month at the Squirrel Hill Food Pantry where 30 young adults ate great food, learned about food insecurity and sorted food items.
Now we’re kicking it into high gear at the Voodoo Brewery in Homestead with Party with a Purpose: Celebrating Refugees and Immigrants! On March 20 from 6-8pm at Voodoo Brewery, the committee will host a big party to raise a little money and a lot of awareness about JFCS Refugee & Immigrant Services! The goal is to get people mingling and talking about the great work we do!
There will be awareness raising! Dan Gilman, Rich Fitzgerald, Erika Strassburger, Corey O’Connor, and potentially Dan Frankel will be at the event. Speakers include a JFCS client to share the inside story, and JFCS staff members who work with refugees and immigrants every day.
There will be fundraising! $1 of each drink will go to JFCS Refugee & Immigrant Services and there will be opportunities to make additional donations.
There will be activism! We’ll have a station set up where people can write postcards to elected officials encouraging them to support refugee resettlement and organizations like ours that provide services to refugees and immigrants.
There will be information! We’ll have an information table set up to learn more about the services we offer and options to get involved. We invite you to volunteer!
Please join us at Party with a Purpose: Celebrating Refugees and Immigrants. Come meet some of the wonderful new people in our community!
