UpStreet: Bridging the Gap Between Hopelessness and Optimism for Teens
UpStreet, a program of JFCS Youth Services, is making it as easy as possible for youth to access mental health treatment during challenging times. Teens receive mental health support for themselves and provide support to their peers who may be experiencing similar struggles through the peer mentoring program.
Our Commitment to Immigrants and Refugees
JFCS provides comprehensive and compassionate support to over 2,000 refugees and immigrants in the Pittsburgh region each year. During a time of change and uncertainty, we remain steadfast in our commitment to serving refugees and immigrants. You can help make a big impact! Consider donating coats to families who have recently arrived in Pittsburgh. Your kindness keeps others warm.
Growing Our Support to Immigrants in Charleroi
On December 6th, JFCS Refugee and Immigrant Services and Immigration Legal Services teams provided educational Know Your Rights sessions for the Haitian community in Charleroi, PA. Later this month, JFCS will be opening an office space in the Charleroi area to assist immigrants seeking support and referrals. We will continue to offer additional informational presentations.
Allegheny County Department of Human Services Funding Preserved
Pittsburgh County Executive Sara Innamorato and County Council Budget Chair Robert Palmosina have agreed on a compromised budget for 2025. This increase ensures full funding for the Department of Human Services including ISAC, the multi-agency partnership that connects immigrants living in Allegheny County with resources. Housed at JFCS, ISAC will be able to continue to provide vital service navigation and coordination to immigrants and refugees in the Pittsburgh area. Later this month, JFCS will be offering office hours at the Carnegie Library Downtown location through ISAC. Any immigrant with questions or facing barriers can come between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm.
Big Giving Tuesday Update
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated during Giving Tuesday, helping us raise $71,306. Your generosity will directly impact the community and clients of JFCS.
Each year, JFCS staff provide comprehensive services to over 9,000 individuals, creating a community where all people can thrive. As we continue to adapt to and navigate the changing landscapes—locally, nationally, and globally—JFCS will be here for all who need support. Thank you for your partnership!
