On Saturday, February 26, over 30 students that are part of JFCS Career Development Center’s 412 Futures program took a trip to the Carnegie Science Center and Highmark Sportsworks to learn and explore. 412 Futures helps refugee and immigrant high school students in Allegheny County navigate and plan for life after graduation. The students that attended live all over the county, including Northview Heights, Crafton Heights, and several from the South Hills region who were brought by bus thanks to BCAP. The students were happy to spend the day exploring the science center, spending time with friends, and learning about science in a fun way.
Over 30 high school students from Bhutan, Nepal, Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, and Syria visited Carnegie Science Center.
Students learned about the human body and different body systems.
The students also experimented with physics and motion through building blocks, tracks, and gravity games.
Highmark Sportsworks gave the students (and adults!) plenty of opportunities to move and exercise and test their physical skills.
It was a great way to spend the day learning and having fun!
