Immigrant Workforce Program Info Sessions

JFCS and Literacy Pittsburgh cordially invite you to attend a free 30 minute information session for the upcoming Immigrant Workforce Program on Wednesday, February 12 at 6:00pm or Wednesday, February 26 at 2:00pm at the Literacy Pittsburgh office in Downtown, located at 411 Seventh Ave Suite 550, Pittsburgh, PA 15219
Looking for a job in a new country can be challenging. Many immigrant job seekers struggle with the unique characteristics of a U.S. job search. Continuing their tradition of serving immigrants in the Greater Pittsburgh area, Jewish Family & Community Services and Literacy Pittsburgh have partnered together to help.
The Immigrant Workforce Program (IWP) is a cohort-based workforce development program designed to assist immigrants navigate the job search process. This 9 week intensive career laddering program starts on March 9 and will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8 pm for nine weeks. This interactive and participant-focused program will provide the skills necessary to conduct a successful job search and begin developing long term careers. Topics include resumes and cover letters, successful interviewing, networking, and more. Participants will also receive one-on-one career counseling from JFCS career counselors and English Language learning and vocational language support from Literacy Pittsburgh. They will also participate in events that include local employers from the Pittsburgh area along with opportunities to meet directly with recruiters. Transportation assistance is available; refreshments and childcare will be provided.
Participants in this program must be fully authorized to work in the United States without any form of sponsorship. They must be willing to engage in an active job search and must be able to attend the workshops on Monday and Wednesday evenings, as well as career fairs and employer events during the program.
