PITTSBURGH, PA — October 29, 2007 — The staff of Jewish Family & Children's Service (JF&CS), who are passionate and committed to their work of helping people overcome life's challenges, jumped at the opportunity to participate in the survey that landed JF&CS on the Pittsburgh Business Times 2007 Top 50 Best Places to Work in Western PA list. The survey, conducted by Quantum Market Research, was open to JF&CS full-time staff members who were asked to rate JF&CS in areas such as organizational leadership, employee benefits and teamwork.
"The Best Places to Work listing is a wonderful way to showcase how our staff has always felt about the work they do, the environment that they work in and the opportunity to do what they truly love to do—help those who are most in need our services and support," said Aryeh Sherman, executive director, Jewish Family & Children's Service.
Since 1937, JF&CS has been improving the quality of life for individuals and families in the community by helping them address issues concerning emotional distress, employment, aging, children with special needs, adoption, immigration, hunger and so much more. And as the agency has grown, so has its need for dedicated and compassionate employees.
JF&CS prides itself in a very low staff turnover, which is a testament to the connection staff members feel to JF&CS and those they serve. "Our staff members are not just employees; they are the faces of JF&CS. They develop ideas for improving and creating new services, they embrace change and they grow with the ever-changing needs of those they serve," added Mr. Sherman. An employee of JF&CS describes the agency as "a great organization with a unique and very important mission, and a professional staff that is highly motivated and a pleasure to team with."
A wonderful example of the change and growth implemented by JF&CS staff members includes programming currently under development to address the unique needs of Baby Boomers and the continual growth of the AgeWell Pittsburgh Program, a collaborative program of JF&CS, the JCC, and JAA, which addresses the myriad of needs of our community's older adults.
